OPI ‘California Dreaming’ Summer 2017 Collection – Swatch/Review

It’s the first day of summer! I got my butt into gear to give you the first post of the summer collections on the first day of summer! – Eh, eh, you see what I did there?

While I was in Europe, I saw a post about a flash sale on this collection, and bought it right up. The whole collection for $50 – shipped! Considering OPI normally retails for $10 a bottle, that’s a steal. Seriously, follow ‘Skyline Beauty Supply’ on Instagram, as they’re always offering 24 Hour Flash Deals on the newest collections. I’ve ordered from them a couple times and have been super satisfied – their shipping is so fast as well!

Anyways, the OPI Summer 2017 collection is called ‘California Dreaming’ and is a standard 12 bottle collection. It features 10 creams, and 2 metallics, based on the state of California! It’s a collection of a small shade range, featuring pinks, reds and orange tones.

Let’s get right into the swatches!

Zoya ‘Earth Day’ Haul

Continuing on with getting up old posts, I finally have my Zoya Earth Day haul! Yeah I know Earth Day was a while ago. I’m continuing with my phrase of “better late than never”. But hey, once I get through all of these posts, I can starting posting summer collections, which everyone is always excited about!

Anyways, Zoya ran a 50% off sale for Earth Day – if you bought polishes, you could also send in old polishes and Zoya would recycle them safely for you. This inspired me to clean out my collection, and I sent them a couple bags worth of old polishes! So you know, I made room for these new polishes.

Apparently in my order I had an inkling towards certain colors – aka blues and greens. Didn’t even realize until I started unpacking them. Whoops.

Sinful Colors ‘Chic Chicas’ Shades

I’m slowly making my way through and posting all of my “this should have been posted a while ago” posts, this one included. Hey, better late than never really.

For the spring, Sinful Colors released 3 different collections, all under the ‘Spring Trippin’ theme. I reviewed the other two so far (see the Desert Divas and Bayou Babes), and finally I have 3 shades from the last one. This one was a little harder for me to find, so I only have a couple, but I wanted to post about them anyways.

I believe there were 6-7 new shades in this, 6 cream shades with Spanish themed names, and one topper shade. They’re all bright saturated creams, and can go well into the summer as well!

Onto the shades! And look, I have my lighting back again! Reunited and able to swatch into the late night hours again.

OPI ‘Fiji’ Spring 2017 Collection + Comparisons

I know, I know. I’m a little late to the game with this, but I’m still posting it. Hey man, it’s my blog isn’t it? I’ll have the summer collection from OPI coming up soon as well!

But for now, let’s stick to spring. As usual this is a 12 piece collection (OPI is how I go bankrupt with these 12 piece collections), full of mostly creams inspired by the tropical island of Fiji. I picked mine up off Ulta’s website when I had a buy one get one free coupon for OPI.

Into the swatches! Comparisons will also be at the bottom! My lighting is a little different on this one too – I’m at my parents house so I went with good ol’ fashioned daylight! But they’re all color accurate.

My European Adventure…

Well here I’ve gone and done it again, I’ve randomly up and vanished for a month. This is my bad.

But this happened because… I went to Europe! That’s right! As part of our “hey we graduated college” and action to actively avoid adult life for a few more moments, I went with 2 of my best friends on a 3 week Eastern European adventure. We had planned this for about 6 months and finally it was here.

We landed in Budapest….

Then went to Vienna,

and ended our days in Warsaw where we flew out of.

We made so many new friends along the way, and I learned and just felt so much of the history while I was there. It was an absolutely incredible trip that I’ll remember for a lifetime, and it’s spurred me to want to visit even more places overseas.

But I am happy to be back to a home and set place, and back to blogging! I did pick up some new makeup while I was over there, and also came home to lots of new nail polish to swatch, so I definitely have some work to do!

I’ll be posting lots in the next upcoming weeks and I’m excited to get back into it! Coming up soon is the OPI Spring collection – I know, a little late to the game, but it’s still beautiful and needs to be talked about – along with many others!

Stay tuned!

LA Colors ‘Matte Liquid Lip Color’

Hey look, affordable liquid lipsticks!

I’m terrible at remembering to touch up my lip colors, so liquid lipsticks and other longwearing lip colors are often my best friends. So when I saw a display of new LA Colors Liquid Lips at my local Shopko (hey-o Upper Peninsula), I had to snatch some. I’m always on the lookout for cheap liquid lipsticks.

LA Colors was always known to me as the brand in Dollar Tree that offered pretty cheap makeup that felt cheap. But now, they’re releasing a lot of new and improved products, and I’ve been pretty impressed so far.

These are their ‘Matte Liquid Lip Colors’ and these retail for $3 (I found them for $2.50 at my Shopko) and you can find them at Family Dollar and Dollar General (and for those in the UP, Shopko), as well as on LA Color’s website now! They have 18 shades total.

I have two shades here – I had 3, but in the craziness of moving, I can’t seem to find it which is unfortunate. It was a lighter nude shade, so I had both light and dark shades to try out. Luckily, I was able to try out the nude shade before I lost it.

They come in long clear plastic tubes that you can see the color inside. The cap has the words matte all over it. It seems to printed onto the cap, and not just a plastic overlay. It seems to be very good packaging.

The applicator is a long flat doe foot. It’s very easy to spread the product over your lips with the flat side. I use the tip to outline my lips and it seems to work pretty well, even in the smaller areas. It holds a lot of product on it as well. I find I can swipe over my lips once and get them covered, and flip it over to go over another layer.

The two shades I have are ‘Eclipse’ on the bottom, a dark taupe purple shade, and ‘Suede’, a darker brown shade. As you can see, they come out very liquidy, almost moussey. They’re very smooth and easy to spread though, and don’t run. As you can see, they’re definitely darker than they originally appear in the tubes. I definitely picked two vampier, more statement shades – not sorry.

And then after a couple of minutes they dry down to matte. I only had it on to take a photo, and it was already hard to remove – in a good way.

Once it sets down, it feels very light on your lips. And as you can see it covers smoothly and nicely with one coat. Even the dark shades are smooth. They will settle into your fine lines, in that every wrinkle of your lips can be seen – it doesn’t smooth them out, but it doesn’t emphasize the wrinkles either, you understand? Even the lighter shade I had covered evenly, and wasn’t chalky at all.

I went over all my lips with one side of the applicator, and then rub them together, and smooth and finish out any patches with the other side of the applicator. It holds enough product that I don’t have to dab back in for more product at all.

And once it’s set, it’s set there. Even through eating and drinking, this lasted so well on my lips. Only once I had something oily did it start to wear, as any lip product would do. And when I did need to reapply, it layered well on itself, not getting flaky or anything.

Below is my lips normally, and then ‘Eclipse’ swatched on my lips – the little patch in the bottom of my lips is sunlight, not patchiness.

And then ‘Suede’ swatched.

These are incredible liquid lips for the price. You have to not mind the feeling of liquid lips on your lips, but it’s something that you can get used to. Especially with these, they’re light-feeling and not overly drying. I will definitely be getting more of these! They’re incredible, and only $3!

GO BUY THEM ALL. I know I’ll be picking up more shades.

I’ve been having such good luck with LA Colors’ new releases! I really want to try their brow pencils next. Do you have any hits from LA Colors?

Sinful Colors ‘Desert Divas’ Stoned-Crystal Shimmers Collection

I’m a little late on this bandwagon. But it’s been busy around here. From packing up my whole life, to getting ready to graduate and leave my friends to graduating and moving away from all of my friends,┬áit’s been a time. But I squeezed in this nail review for you!

As I’ve said, everyone has already talked about this collection, and for good reason. These polishes are incredible.

This is the ‘Desert Divas’ collection. This was one of 3 collections that dropped all for the spring from Sinful Colors, underneath the title ‘Spring Trippin’. It also included the ‘Bayou Babes’ Sinful Shine collection (which I reviewed here) and the ‘Chic Chicas’ collection, which I’ll have a couple from soon.

For now, let’s look at the ‘Desert Divas’ collection. This is a 9 bottle collection. I have 8 here. So there were 8 that were in the main displays, and then Sinful Colors did that thing where they limited released one color to make it seem super limited and make people go crazy over it – it worked. But I got it.

These all have the ‘Stoned Crystal Shimmer’ sticker on them, which means they’re all a cream color base with little silver shimmers throughout it. Stunning. I knew I had to have these. My Walgreen was severely low stocked, but luckily Christy was able to hook me up! She found a full display and sent me the shades I still needed! Be sure to check her out on Instagram @he.chosethenails – she does lovely nail art! Have I mentioned before how I love the nail polish community?

Enough chatter, let’s get into the swatches! Hopefully you already picked some up!
